TRANSFORMING BUSINESS IDEAS INTO WORKABLE BUSINESS MODELS

SRM B School organized a Workshop on Transforming Business Ideas into Workable Business Models on 24^th September 2013.  Mr.Hemachandran. L, (Principal Consultant-Strategy, Ma Foi Strategic Consultants (P) Ltd.) was the resource person for the workshop. Fifty students who were interested in starting their own business were selected to attend the workshop.

The workshop commenced with the Welcome Address by Dr.S.Kesavan, HoD, SRM B School. Ms.Jabakumari, II MBA, introduced the resource person to the participants. The resource person started the workshop with a presentation on “Creating Start up Success”. The presentation concentrated on nine building blocks of a business model. He elaborated on the following steps in detail.

3.      Channels

4.      Customer Relationships

5.      Revenue Streams

6.      Key Resources

7.      Key Activities

8.      Key Partners

9.      Cost Structure

He conducted the entire session in an interactive manner. Then he made a video presentation on converting a business idea into a workable business model using business model canvas.

After the introductory session the participants were divided into eleven groups. Each group was asked to convert their own business idea into a workable model using the canvas. Then the groups were asked to make a presentation of their business models. The following presentations were adjudged as the best presentations

 The entire session was made interesting and exciting by Mr.L.Hemachandran. The participants were fully engrossed and felt that the workshop was very useful for them to venture into their own business. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms.Uma Rungta, II MBA.

Dr.N.Vasudevan, Dean (E & T), Vadapalani Campus and the faculty members of SRM B-School graced the occasion by their presence.

Mr.Abdullah and Mr.Srivatsa were the masters of ceremony. The programme was organized by Dr.S.Gayathry and Ms.M.N.Prabadevi AP, SRM B School. The workshop was fully sponsored by the management of SRM University.
